Invitation to Submit
On behalf of the Australasian Society of Diagnostic Genomics, we invite you to join us in Melbourne for the 2017 Inaugural Interim Scientific Meeting. ASDG is proud to be a special interest group of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA).
The meeting will cover all aspects of diagnostic genomics. The theme for the meeting is ‘Evolving problems, new solutions’. We will look at how new technologies are being applied to existing genetic problems – which continue to evolve as we get more information from new technologies.
The receipt of all abstracts will be confirmed by an acknowledging email. All applicants, successful or otherwise, will be notified within an appropriate time frame to allow registration before Early Bird Registration.
Please note that the space available for presentations is limited and preference will be given to papers of the highest quality as judged by the Scientific Committee.

Once you have created an account you can submit abstracts. You can log back in to submit more abstracts and to register for the conference.
Ed Krumins Award
ASDG would like to invite eligible authors to submit their oral presentation for consideration for the Ed Krumins Award. The updated eligibility for this award is listed below.
- Financial member of ASDG (no waiting periods apply, therefore you can sign up today – click here). To become a member of ASDG you first need to be a member of HGSA
- 10 years or less postgraduate experience in a relevant science field
- Not be principal or senior assistant
- Oral presentation to be original work and not be a case study
- Not be a previous recipient of the award
New oral presentations from eligible authors may be considered for the 2017 program even if not currently accepted.

While you will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format, the program committee may request an alternative format be considered. The committee will allocate presentations to the program taking into account the preference of authors and the balance of the program.
We anticipate that authors will be the principal presenter for at most one featured presentation, but may be the principal presenter for more than one impact presentation and display poster.
It is anticipated oral presentations will be allocated 15 minutes for presentation, including 2 minutes for question time.

Case Study for Workshop 2: Microarray Analysis
Delegates are invited to submit problems or relevant questions through the abstract submission portal. A representative variety of submitted problems/ questions will be selected for presentation. Successful submitting delegates will be asked to present their problem/ question (3 PowerPoint slides max). A panel of senior scientists will be chosen from registered delegates, as well as feedback from the audience.

An A0 portrait size poster that will be displayed for the duration of the Conference.
The abstract and a PDF of each accepted poster will be included in the conference website for delegates to view and download. Abstracts will also be printed in the delegate handbook.
Presenters will also be asked to attend their poster during a specified viewing session to discuss the work with other delegates.
ASDG Poster Prize – Display Poster
Candidates will be expected to give a short 2-minute explanation of their poster and/or be available to answer any questions arising from it. Please check www.asdgconference.com/awards to confirm your eligibility for this award.

How to Submit
Submissions are due by Friday 14th December 2016 and can be submitted via the Presentation Portal on this page.
Abstracts should be prepared using the template provide (*.doc) and should not exceed 300 words.
Authors will be notified of the status of their abstracts by Friday 25th January 2017.
The Scientific Committee will review all submitted abstracts.
As there are limited places for oral presentations some abstracts submitted for oral presentation may be offered posters. Authors in these cases will be advised and asked to confirm whether they wish to present a poster.
All presenters will be required to register for the conference and pay the appropriate registration fee. Presenters also need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.

Each session room will be equipped for the presentation of PowerPoint slides and include a data projector, computer with external speakers, lectern and microphone.
Presenters will take their Power Point slides to the meeting on a memory stick, where an audiovisual technician will load your presentation.
Video and audio clips should be embedded in your Power Point slides rather than linking to external files.
All slides will be run from a central presentation computer. However, if you have a complex presentation, which includes multiple media files, we suggest you bring your own laptop as a backup in case of difficulties loading your presentation.
