We are pleased to announce the Queensland Department of Education International Conference 2018 will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia, from 28 to 29 May 2018.

The DEi Conference is hosted annually primarily to ensure school leaders and school representatives from across Queensland Primary and Secondary schools build their capability to deliver effective and quality international programs. The conference also seeks to enhance the international student experience and grow international education programs delivered in Queensland schools.

The conference focuses on:

  • professional development;
  • networking opportunities;
  • industry connections;
  • celebration of international engagement; and
  • recognition and sharing of best practice

The theme for the DEi Conference is ‘Connecting Globally – Partners in international education’. The conference has five distinctive objectives that are supported by the International Education and Training Strategy to Advance Queensland 2016-2026.

  4. Performance – continual improvement though innovation and collaboration
  5. People – knowledgeable and empowered workforce

A Gala Dinner will be held in the Plaza Ballroom. We are excited to announce that Anh Do, author, actor, comedian and artist, will be our guest speaker at the Gala Dinner which will will also showcase talented international students.

Attendees at the conference will include representatives from Queensland state schools (principals, teaching staff, international student coordinators, homestay coordinators), DET regional offices, Education Queensland International offshore schools, non state schools, the Department and other Queensland Government agencies, as well as some international delegates and education agents.

The 2018 DEi conference will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. The BCEC is a purpose-built convention centre and event venue in the heart of South Bank. The world-class and award-winning facility plays host to thousands of concerts, conventions, exhibitions and tradeshows, weddings and private functions every year. The centre is also home to Olio Café & Bar and Merivales Café Bar & Restaurant.

Adjacent to the South Brisbane Railway Station, and close to the Cultural Centre and South Bank Busway stations, BCEC is also easily accessible by taxi, City Cat (through the Parklands’ river terminals) and car. Onsite parking can be accessed from both Merivale Street and Grey Street.
