2020 McIntyre Trophy Cancellation

It is with deep regret we advise that the 2020 McIntyre Trophy scheduled to take place in Hobart 29 – 31 March has been cancelled. The rapidly changing circumstances relating to COVID-19 in Australia and internationally has left the committee with no choice but to cancel the McIntyre Trophy.

This has been a very difficult decision for the committee to take, but we need to prioritise the health and safety of participants.

Golf in Tasmania

With more than 65 courses around the state, you won’t be far from a fairway in Tasmania.

Barnbougle & Lost Farm Golf Courses

Barnbougle is now a name that represents two iconic golf courses: The Dunes and Lost Farm. Located on the rugged north east coast of the state, ruthless marram grass, wide open fairways and exquisite hole layouts make for unforgettable challenges. An extraordinary landscape combined with magnificent scenery makes Barnbougle the perfect golfing getaway.

Cape Wickham

Immerse yourself into a rare and dramatic mix of coastal holes cleverly routed around Cape Wickham Lighthouse on the northern tip of King Island, with some holes leaning gently toward the ocean (Bass Strait), and others set atop a rocky headland. The 11th is almost “in” the sea and the 18th is built directly above the beautiful beach at Victoria Cove, which comes into play as bunker on the final hole. Few courses in the world, if any, interact with the ocean quite like this.

Ratho Golf Course & Australasian Golf Museum

The village of Bothwell, an hour north of Hobart, is home to Australia’s oldest golf course, Ratho Farm, and the Australasian Golf Museum.

The Ratho Farm Golf Links were first laid out and enjoyed by the pioneering Reid family, who emigrated from Scotland and settled Ratho in 1822. The course is available for rounds today, along with accommodation in many of the original farm buildings.

The Australasian Golf Museum, located in Bothwell village, tells the story of how golf evolved from a crude game played by a handful of villages on Scotland’s east coast, to now being a truly international game, and Australia’s most popular participation sport.

Tasmanian Whisky Trail

Tasmania is one of the few places in the world where whisky is still made the old-fashioned way, just like in the 1830s. It’s crafted slowly, by hand and in copper stills. Rich fields of locally-grown barley, an abundance of pure soft water, highland peat bogs and the perfect climate bring all the ingredients together in a marriage of science, art and passion.

Today’s distillers are also passionate about sharing their story and Tasmania’s unique whisky history with you. Many offer estate tours, including history and heritage presentations, food and entertainment, distillery tours and tastings.

Lark Distillery was the first licensed distillery in Tasmania since 1839. It was established in 1992 to produce Australian malt whisky, rich in character with a big finish using the best Tasmanian ingredients. Lark Distillery is proudly a boutique Tasmanian owned distillery dedicated to maintaining its proven high quality malt whisky and other unique spirits.
