Wendy Richardson, Glenview Community Services
Abstract
Wendy Richardson approached Glenview two years ago applying to become a volunteer and more specifically to
work with residents with dementia in the dementia support unit, Merton. Wendy is a much valued member of the
dementia support team offering extraordinary support to Glenview’s residents with dementia. Wendy is a great
advocate for residents with dementia; she is respectful and genuinely interested in learning their stories, supporting
staff and building fantastic relationships with residents, families and staff alike.
Wendy hasn’t always been a volunteer at Glenview and in this presentation she will discuss how and why she chose
this field of volunteering and the journey she has been on at Glenview that has seen her embedded her as a much
loved and well respective team member. Wendy will talk about what organisations can offer volunteers to
encourage a more sustained volunteer involvement in dementia support.
