Reform and Reality: Care Assess’ Implementation of a Regional Assessment Service in Tasmania.

Dave Hayes, Care Assess

On 2nd April, Minister Fifield announced that Care Assess, along with 12 other organisations, was selected to establish a Regional Assessment Service (RAS) as part of the Australian Governments’ new Aged Care Gateway Programme, My Aged Care.

From 1 July 2015, RAS providers are responsible for conducting face-to-face assessments of older people seeking support at home, provided under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).

Care Assess is one of two RAS organisations in Tasmania, and will utilise the opportunity provided by ‘Snippets from the Sector’ to provide an overview of the implementation and initial delivery of this important reform from the perspective of a RAS organisation.

The presentation will provide an overview of the achievements, issues and opportunities associated with implementation of RAS services, and focus on ways in which RAS organisations and CHSP Service Providers can work together better to improve outcomes for older people in Tasmania.

About provides delegate registration, website and app solutions, and financial management for conferences, conventions and scientific meetings.
