Abstract

This presentation will provide a short snippet of new research emerging on the UK which may be of interest to Volunteer Involving Organisations and Not for Profit organisations.  There is some emerging research around Not for Profit organisations and how they engage with older individuals (particularly recent retirees). With Tasmania’s rapidly ageing population, older volunteers will become increasingly important and valuable – an asset, not a burden. However charitable groups run the risk of disengagement from this cohort due to stereotypes of older volunteers in their promotional campaigns.
