Using a Flipped Classroom approach for international students

Shane Mason1

1Deputy Principal Cleveland District State High School

Flipped learning is more than an educational buzz phrase, it’s a model that gives students the opportunity for valued content acquisition outside of the classroom, allowing for personalised learning to become a reality inside the class.

In this session, participants will hear about real flipped classroom experiences and gain clarity around the flipped classroom model and strategies for what and how to flip. This session will also explore how teachers can design their flipped learning experiences to support international and EAL/D students within their mainstream classroom.

Takeaways from this session include the what and how of flipped learning for international students, getting buy-in from students and parents and the low-cost technologies teachers can use to make flipped learning a reality.
